All quiet on the western front

As winter kicks in things have slowed down considerably in the aviation scene in Marlborough.

The only noteables lately are the regular visits to Base Woodbourne by the Hercules fleet with NZ7001 being noted on base toady.

On 20-May Mitsubishi MU-2B-30 ZK-KOH registered to Helicopter Services (BOP) Ltd arrived into Woodbourne from Hamilton.

Air New Zealand have altered their schedules for the winter season. This has resulted in the BHE-AKL and AKL-BHE services decreasing by one flight a day changing from 5x 1900D, 1x Q300 to 3x 1900D and 2x Q300.

The 2 Q300 services AKL-BHE-AKL NZ8019/018 and NZ8227/228 replace the following services NZ2171/2160 & NZ8014/015 AKL-BHE-AKL during the morning and NZ2161/164 AKL-BHE-AKL and NZ2162/265 BHE-AKL-BHE in the afternoon

One project of note that is moving forward despite winter is the restoration of former Safe Air Bristol Freighter ZK-CPT. This is a labour of love by local Al Marshall who intends to get the freighter back into a taxiable condition so she can continue to wow audiences at Classic Fighters and visitors to the Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre.
