Mixed news this week for Marlborough's Aviation Industry

Firstly good news for the training industry, with the opening of the new workshops at Woodbourne, for the joint NMIT/RNZAF aviation engineering training facility.

The partnership between NMIT and the Royal New Zealand Air Force is away flying with the opening of an aviation engineering facility at Base Woodbourne.
The building was to be officially opened by Defence Minister Wayne Mapp this afternoon.

Secondly a delay in news on the possible saving of the 100 jobs at Safe Air

It will be two to three weeks before Safe Air staff know whether extra Royal New Zealand Air Force work will be injected into the company to save their jobs, as the axe hovers over more than 100 positions at the Woodbourne aircraft engineering firm.

Finally a feel good story on the visit to Woodbourne of the Southern DC3 trust's DC3 ZK-AMY, as part of its DC3 Heartland Tour.

Blenheim brothers Rob and Tony Grigg were going up in the DC3 for a birthday treat yesterday.
The historic plane, owned by the Southern DC3 Trust, arrived at Woodbourne Air Base to take Marlburians for a spin as part of the DC3 Heartland Tour of the country.
